Inanna Meets the Dawn take inspiration for their music and artwork from lost and suppressed female histories and mythology, as well as the current socio-political climate.
The Goddess and The Alphabet deals with the central theme of loss – the loss of connection to ourselves and nature, the loss of female experiences and histories, the loss of female contributions to art, science, engineering, medicine, and society and the personal losses which unite us all within our human experience. Interspersed are also the balancing themes of healing, regeneration, re-birth, and renewal.
The Goddess and The Alphabet combines layers of vocal harmonies with electronic soundscapes using traditional instruments like guitars, and classical instruments like the harmonium with modern production techniques and digital effects. This creates a unique and vibrant brand of electronic music which is rooted in traditional song writing.
They draw inspiration for their music and artwork from lost and suppressed female histories and
mythology, as well as the current socio-political climate.
Inanna Meets The Dawn as a collective are interested in the dismantling of systems of oppression - both internally and externally, and working with other activists and artists to improve inclusivity in their immediate communities and beyond. They believe art and music should be a vehicle for this vital work bringing comfort to the disturbed and disturbing the comfortable and not merely for entertainment purposes.
